Abril's sex appeal has won her fans from the start. At 16 she appeared in the American film ROBIN AND MARIAN as the young lover of the King of England, and almost 20 years later she was stirring the ardor of admirers (of both sexes) in FRENCH TWIST. Perhaps her best-known role in the U.S. is opposite Antonio Banderas in Almodóvar's ode to erotic obsession in TIE ME UP, TIE ME DOWN (ˇAtame!). It's worth watching just for the scene with Victoria and her bath-toy...ai ai ai!!!

Victoria has never broken through in American films. She was the sexy girlfriend of Joe Pesci in Barry Levinson's comedy JIMMY HOLLYWOOD, which was a critical and box-office failure in 1994; Victoria stole the picture but couldn't save it. Hollywood in general doesn't know what to do with European actors, but the fact that Victoria hasn't worked in this country lately is shameful. Quentin, are you listening?
