WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Centre of mining environment celebrated 5th June as an Environment Day. Several activities were carried out for environment cause such as:

Seminar on "Water-Two Billion People Are Dying For It"

-Organised by The Institution of Engineers(India),Dhanbad Local Centre
-Hosted by CME,Indian School of Mines,Dhanbad
-In colloboration with:ACC,CMRI,CFRI,TISCO,IOC,STEI & Others

Several papers were presented in this Seminar:
1.Fresh water-A depleting natural resource by Prof.(Dr) P.Bandopadhaya
2. Augmentation of underground pumped out water for potable purpose from coal mines of Jharia Coalfield by Prof. Gurdeep Singh
3.Water Scarcity-An emerging global crisis by E.V.Raju
4.Rainwater harvesting-A solution to manage water scarcity by Prof. D.D.Misra and Dr.V.J.Loveson
5.Closed underground/opencast mines for storage of rainwater-Complete solution to problem of water in Jharia and other coalfields by Dr.R.S.Rai
6.An approach towards water management in TATA Steel,Jharia Division by Mr. R.S.Singh and Mr. J.Shaw
7.Environmental protection through water resource management in Jharia Coalfield,Jharkhand by Dr(Mrs) Rekha Ghosh & Prof. Gurdeep Singh

Tree Plantation
Few plants of medicinal value, fruit bearing and timber yielding were planted



Sit and Draw Competition
Under this, like every year, this year too, sit and draw competition was organised in which around 94 students from nursery to std. X took part and expressed their views through their art.
