Captain Garis Cord and his men finally came across the large room filled with Bladenheart soldiers.  They charged straight into the soldiers, getting a surprise attack advantage on them.
Lyx, who was sitting at the stairwell at the back of the room in a meditating position opened one eye and looked up to see his men being mauled by the superior might of the Cloud City soldiers.
“Show no mercy!  We’ll spear right through them and head to the tower’s top!” Garis shouted above everyone, raising his sword to gain attention.  He brought his blade down to cleave a man’s skull.  After jerking the blade free he threw a bolt of lightning so hard it lifted several soldiers off the ground with its power.  A huge gust of wind sent several soldiers slamming into their supporting troops behind them, some even being skewered by spears set to charge behind them.
Like a wave, the Cloud City soldiers poured over the Bladenheart soldiers.  Bolts of lightning and stinging winds filled the room quickly.  Through the entire attack Lyx sat perfectly calm at his position on the steps.  In a matter of minutes there remained not one Bladenheart soldier alive.  The Cloud City soldiers moved towards the stairs, Garis leading them.  They all stopped at the sight of the lone Lyx.
“Is this your last defense?  One man!?” one soldier shouted out, pointing at Lyx in disbelief.
“This should be easy, sir.  Let us overwhelm him without numbers!” another soldier declared.
Garis looked at Lyx carefully, the lone guardian slowly rising to his feet, one eye still closed and his hands sliding across his stomach to reach for the shuriken-like katars on the opposite sides of himself.
“A good show, sir.  Well played out,” Lyx said in a monotone, lifeless voice, finally looking up at Garis with both eyes opened.
“What are you waiting for, captain?  Call for the charge!” a third soldier demanded.
Garis raised his hand for pause.  “Just look at this man’s eyes…his mere image burns with energy.  We must be more weary about this one.  I shall take him alone,” Garis stated, stepping forward and resting a hand on the hilt of his katana.
“Oh my…going for the lone man show?  Come now, that’s never good.  You’d have better luck with all your men.  You’re ruining the show,” Lyx said calmly, his katars drawn.
“Save me the flashy entrance…” Garis said, his words dripping with sarcasm.
“Fair enough…shall we proceed?” Lyx asked, hold his katars out wide.
Garis took this advantage to lunge forward, his katana drawn.  A clash of metal resounded through the room as all the soldiers watched in awe.  Garis stood beside Lyx, who had both of his katars perfectly in place to block the katana.  Lyx moved the katana around and lashed out with his katars.  Garis side-stepped the attack and slammed his shoulder into Lyx’s, shoving him off balance.  The lanky commander quickly regained his balance in a position most would find unfavorable and whipped around with both katars in a wide arch, nearly hitting Garis.  The seasoned captain drew back his katana in a solid position and jabbed forward quickly several times just before he gave a mighty horizontal slash.  Lyx moved away from each of the jabs and blocked the heavy horizontal strike with merely one katar.
“I’m sorry, captain…but you’re just not fit for the part of victor,” Lyx said, bending to one side oddly.
In an instant he leaped forward, landing his left katar in the captain’s stomach.  He wrapped around Garis and got his second katar beside his neck.  In one swift motion Lyx jerked both of his katars back to his side, gutting Garis and slicing open his neck.  The captain’s entrails flopped onto the floor as blood freely ran from his neck.  Lyx dropped both of his katars and caught Garis’s body.  He pulled back the captain’s neck to present the inside of his throat to all of his men.
“Here is your last image of your beloved captain…enjoy it while you last,” Lyx said grimly before ripping off the head completely and throwing it into the mass of soldiers.  He dropped the body carelessly and picked up his katars.  “Now, is there anyone else who wants to be a hero?”
All of the soldiers looked at the scene in horrific disgust.  A few could not contain their stomach, and vomited on the floor.
“Y-you sick freak..!” one soldier finally said, tightening his grip on his katana.  “Let’s get him…for Altem Tier…for Captain Garis Cord!”
A cheer of vengeance filled the room just before the entire mass of soldiers charged forward.  Lyx held out both of his katars, and they suddenly grew to the same size as Lyx.  He threw one of them with ease, cleaving a large path of soldiers through the group.  The whole charge halted as they looked in surprise and horror at the path of blood and bodies left behind by the attack.  The moment of silent disgust was quickly replaced my screams of anguish as the boomerang-like katar returned to its master, slicing another path through the soldiers.  Lyx readied himself and caught the blade, which dragged across the ground before stopping, jerking the commander back with it.  He lifted the katar up and looked at the group of soldiers.  “Well…?”
The soldiers stood frozen in fear until finally a few took a brave step forward.  Again the katar went on a death path towards the soldiers.  Some managed to duck or dodge the weapon, while less fortunate ones lost limbs, heads, or half of their body in all.  As the katar began to return, bringing more death, some soldiers began to flee, others charging forward in a panicked rage.  Lyx caught his katar, using its returning momentum to launch his second one, causing just as much destruction as the first.  He repeated the process again as the katar returned.  After a few moments of this continuing, only a few soldiers remained, all shaking in fear, too afraid to move.
Lyx let both of his katars return to normal size.  He took a step forward, and all the remaining soldiers flinched.  He noted this and took yet another step.  He started to walk forward, swaying from side to side awkwardly, playing with his katars in the air as he went like a little child.  “You know…you all rather bore me..” he said, seemingly depressed.
He moved right up next to a soldier and casually cut him down.  He cocked his head to one side, spotting his next victim, who literally soiled himself in fear.  Lyx made his way over to this soldier and just as easily cut him down.  The remaining soldiers either killed themselves or moved forward to get it over with quickly.  Through the entire massacre, Lyx kept his monotone voice and emotionless expression.
