Vahanams

The glittering Vahanams during the festival days at Srivilliputtur provide a great spectacle when they move around the veedhis in procession.

The deities are usually mounted on the particular Vehicle(vahanam) adorned with glittering jewels and colourful garlands and taken in procession along the veedhis depending on the particular festival which is taking place, to the accompaniment of divya prabhandham and Veda parayanam. These decorated processions with ornamented umbrellas swaying in the air moving majestically forward add a unique aural and visual appeal to the sublime atmosphere. The significance of the vahanas and the ritualistic formalities observed are dealt in the Agamas
