VELIRAF RABBITRY

Hello, welcome to Veliraf Rabbitry, breeder and exhibitor of Netherland Dwarf Rabbits.    I have been raising this tiny little breed for almost 10 years now, and still find it as frustrating, and rewarding as it was then.

Now though, it has become impossible. Please be advised that since a barn fire destroyed my entire herd, I will no longer have rabbits available. I will also not be answering any rabbit related inquiries. Thank you.

I try to breed my rabbits as close to the standard as possible, although sometimes this can be very difficult.  There really is not alot of leeway when you are dealing with a two pound bunny. I strive to produce bunnies that are well within the weight standard.  There is nothing so disappointing as waiting for that beautiful animal to mature, only to find he is 1 ounce overweight. The current ARBA standard for the Netherland Dwarf also states that 2 pounds is the ideal weight for these little guys.

I also enjoy working on a variety of colours, currently I am focusing on (or should I say trying to focus on?) Chestnuts, Oranges, Opals, Otters, Tortoise Shell and Himalayans.  Although I do not try to produce them, I occasionaly see Siamese Sables in the nestbox.  Right now the pet project I am working on is fawns, the numbers for this variety are really down, and I'm hoping to be able to produce something to take to the ARBA convention.   I try to keep the number of varieties that I raise down to a minimum, but it never fails that the one colour I don't want happens to be the best bunny in the litter!!!

Here are some of my other pages that I have been working on. I hope that you will enjoy them.
