Konrad Prinz zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst
Konrad Maria Eusebius, Prinz zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst von Ratibor und Corvey was great servant of the Austrian Empire, just as many of his ancestors had been.  He was born in Vienna on 16 December 1863.  Konrad was married in Vienna on 10 June 1888 to Franziska Gräfin von Schönborn-Buchheim (born 23 March 1866, died 16 September 1937).  They had six children:  Alfred (1889-1948), Erwin (1890-1950), Hubert (1893-1969), Heinrich (1907-1913), and Franziska (1897-1989).  Franziska married Archduke Maximilian, the younger brother of Kaiser Karl on 29 November 1917.  Konrad’s younger brother Gottfried married Archduchess Henrietta, who was the fourth child of Archduke Friedrich, the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armed Forces.

Konrad became mayor of Triest in 1906 but only briefly.  He was appointed the Chancellor for Austria from 2 May 1906, replacing Paul Freiherr Gautsch von Frankenthurn.  Hohenlohe remained in this capacity only until 2 June, when he was superceded by Paul Freiherr von Gautsch, who came into this office for a third time.  He returned to be mayor of Triest in 1913 and remained in this capacity until 1916, when he replaced
Leon Bilinski as Finance Minister.

In 1917, he replaced the aging
Montenuovo as Obersthofmeister to Kaiser Karl, and for the longest time was a chief candidate to be chancellor of Austria once more.  However, between the vicious infighting of the various parties and the neverending threat of assassination that had eliminated reliable Karl Stürgkh, Prinz Hohenlohe-Schillingsfuerst never reached this post again.

Late in 1918, he was given the task by Karl of drawing up a plan of federalizing the Empire, but considerations for Hungary killed half of the Prinz's plan.  The other half, a federal Austria, was killed in late October when all of the nationalities (including the German-speakers) rejected Karl's offer of federalization.  Konrad was known as the Red Prince by his opponents, because he supported the workers'  causes and concerns.

Konrad Prinz zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst died at Leoben on 21 December 1918.
