The Kingston College English
Department seeks to prepare students to be both accurate and fluent in
English as a second language.
Conscious of the fact that we are living within a
global society, English as a means of communication in this boundless world
is essential. In order to give students an appropriate preparation to meet
such demands, we provide them a broad approach to English language,
including both American and British English. This not only enables them to
seek where is the "underground" in London or where is the
"subway" in Boston, but also gives them more confidence, wider
vocabulary, and, in a more academic sense, better preparation to face
international examinations, without having to readapt because of variations
in vocabulary or expressions, as a result of focusing on one variety of
English only.
In the future, we look
forward to expanding the use of English as a second language by becoming a
fully bilingual school, so English will not only be practised as part of
the English lessons. It will also be part of the students' everyday
language, thus facilitating interaction and of course, learning, which is
the ultimate goal.he Kingston College English Department seeks to prepare
students to be both accurate and fluent in English as a second language. |
