"MONEY MATTERS AND EXPENSES IN CUBA"

1.-MONEY
First of all you may read the Resolution No. 80/2004 from the Central Bank of Cuba at the LINK over.

2.-CONVERTIBLE MONEY: This is money that was printed in Cuba. Its equal in value to dollars and is accepted everywhere on the island. You want to spend it all while youre there because its not worth anything once you leave the island. If you pay for something with dollars and receive change in Cuban money, look at it to make sure it says pesos convertibles and is not national money.

3.-CUBAN PESOS: This is the national currency. The exchange rate is approximately 24 Cuban pesos to C.U.C CUBAN CONVERITBLE PESOS(January 2006), but changing money probably will not be necessary.

4.-EXPENSES TO CONSIDER: Many Cubans still do not have access to dollars, so if you invite a friend out to eat or to a show, plan to pay. Also consider their transportation.
