IGGLES IMPROBABLE RUN GOES ON!
Following the inexplicably stupid game
plan against the Redskins, the Birds were given new life by the Bears’ loss and
Tampa’s meltdown. They took full
advantage and are now 3-point favorites on the road next Sunday against the
Vikings. What stands in the way of the
Eagles moving ahead? Only Andy.
WRITTEN BEFORE THE DALLAS GAME.
Folks tend to over-react about Andy. Fact is, he's been a
very effective coach and GM. He is not smug, nor arrogant -- he is a
player's coach who is willing to take hits from the media in order to protect
his players. He is stubborn, for sure. Despite all the great things he
has accomplished, I'm ready to see him go. Why? Because he has
repeatedly demonstrated an inability to learn. 10 years in, he still cannot
manage the clock nor get plays in on time nor use timeouts effectively.
He cannot figure out when to challenge, and it apparently has never dawned on
him to delegate these tasks that he cannot master.
Worst of all, there is only one person left on the planet who
does not understand that THIS Eagles team has more success when there is a
balance to the run/pass play selection. It is mind boggling that, after 3
strong games with a balanced offense, and in control of their own destiny, Reid
fires up his pass-happy offense against the Skins. It demonstrates,
convincingly, that he learned nothing from the prior three games.
I'm OK keeping him as GM, since any idiot with a clipboard could
have guided this squad to an 11-5 record as head coach. The talent is
there. The game day plan has been the pinnacle of cluelessness.
HOW SWEET IT IS.
Is there another team you’d more like to see self-destruct than the
Cowboys? Life is good!
REPEAT NOTE ABOUT THE STANDINGS!
