Gender Information

This is a spayed female (Vega$) with stitches. Females often have problem with laying eggs in captivity and spaying can be a life saving operation. Female iguanas may lay fertilized eggs or unfertile eggs or they may reabsorb the eggs.
Males may become agressive during breeding season. Most bites occur during this season. Male iguanas may be threatened by human males or may want to mate with human females.
Females (on the left) have wider bodies. Males (on the right) have larger pores and larger jowles.
