Professional Experience and Activities

Research experience
Application of Lie groups to systems of partial differential equations appearing as field equations in certain (1+1), 2 and (2+1)-dimensional classical field theories describing the state of equilibrium, stability or dynamic behaviour of slender or thin-walled elastic bodies (rods, plates and shells). Investigation of the associated Lie symmetries, including solution of group classification problems, the results obtained being used to determine: group-invariant solutions; equivalence transformations simplifying the differential structure of the PDEs considered; conservation laws obtainable via Noether's theorem and variational identities (in those cases when a variational statement is available). Propagation of acceleration and shock waves in thin elastic bodies have been studied, the specific symmetries and conservation laws inherent to the problem being involved into consideration.
