Heya goils! How's it rollin'? For those of you who don't know me well, I'm Dewey.I'm the author of 25 stories at fanfiction.net and a member of the Newsies Mailing List. w00t w00t! Being that I'm on Summer Vacation, or so I'd like to think on those days when work hasn't exhausted me or Rollins College hasn't annoyed me, I decided to host a little contest of my own: The second annual edition of my Summer Fanfic Contest. So here's the rules! 1. Written stories can be from any year, not just 2004. So long as you wrote the fanfic, you can send whichever piece from your repetoire suits you. ^.^ 2. Due to time constraints, each author may only submit 3 or less stories. 4. No NC17 works will be accepted for judging. Sorry, goils. I know excessive cursing and sex would be realistic back then (and still is now, oddly enough) but let's keep it clean, hmm? 5. No Slash stories will be accepted for judging. Again, my apologies. I simply have a preference to not read it. 5. Stories can be of any genre: Romance, Drama, Comedy, Tragedy, Horror ...anything! Just make sure it pertains to Newsies! 6. These are the following categories for which I'll be looking for winners... ~Best Drama ~Best Romance ~Best Comedy ~Best Tragedy ~Best Songfic ~Best Unfinished Story ~Best Quote ~Best Scene ~Best Friendship ~Best New Character (both female and male) ~Best Supporting Character (both female and male) ~Best Portrayal of Original Newsie ~Best Villain ~Best Plot ~Dewey's "Key to Brooklyn" Award for Best Spot Conlon Story ~The "Golden Dew" Award for Best Characterization ~The "Matchmaker, Matchmaker" Award for Best Couple ~The "Eternal Avenger" Award for Best Storyline with a Supernatural, Horror, or Angst-based Twist ~The "Dove" Award for Best Religious Story ~Best Author ~Best Overall Story 8. Deadline for submissions is JULY 30, 2004. No late entries will be accepted unless you've obtained pardon from me via email or AIM. Winners will be notified by email and will receive a banner as their award. 9. Previous winners from preceding fanfic contests hosted by me cannot send in stories which have already been awarded in the past. However, if the story did not win first prize or at all, it can be re-submitted. 10. Most importantly, have fun and don't be afraid to rise to your potential as a writer. ^_^ 11.
