What are your monthly commute costs?

1. Multiply your daily round trip commute miles by the number of days (usually 21) you commute per month to determine your monthly commute miles.

2. To compute your monthly operating costs (gas, oil, tires, maintenance)
multiply your monthly commute miles by .104.

3. To compute your total monthly cost (insurance, depreciation, license, taxes operations cost, etc.)
multiply your monthly commute miles by .434.

EXAMPLE:
1. daily round trip miles x 21 = monthly commute miles

2. monthly commute miles x operating costs = montly (operating) commute costs

3. monthly commute miles x total costs = total monthly commute costs

EXAMPLE:
1. 140 miles x 21 days = 2940 miles

2. 2940 x .104 = $305.76 (monthly operating costs)

3. 2940 x .434 = $1275.96 (total monthly costs

Operating costs (.104) and Total costs (.434)
represent average AAA figures based on an 8 cylinder sedan
driven 15,000 miles a year.
