About Mrs. VH
Mrs. VanHoutan began her teaching career in 1972 in a tiny school in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.  Following her husband around the globe, she has taught in public, private, and DoDDS schools both in the U.S. and overseas.  She has been a cooperating classroom SIGNET teacher since 1980, and a resource teacher in the Prince William County Gifted Education Program since 1993.  She truly believes she has the best teaching job in PWC.

Mrs. VH is married to her college sweetheart, a retired Marine officer.  Their daughter, Blake, and her husband live nearby.  Blake is a PWC high school teacher and a busy mother of 5 children. Their son, Kyle,  lives with his family in Decatur, GA,  where he is a postdoctoral fellow in Biology at Emory University. (
