HOME
Happy Spring!!!  We are all grateful for the warmth and promise of milder weather and students are pleased to shed their jackets and we can find the insects and pollen samples we need for some of our nature centers.  Everyone seems to be in a lighter mood…if only the rain would stop.?

Groovy Greeks
Students are currently working in the fourth unit, Math / Number Systems, of our Groovy Greek simulation as we strive to solve higher level problems. We have now turned our focus to the Greek Squad from Ancient Greece, and have enjoyed meeting these exciting personalities.

Students have enjoyed the puzzlers presented by our Greek mentors, and it has been impressive to watch reasoning and problem solving skills grow as students have stepped up to meet these challenges. These lessons both extended and enriched beyond the grade level SOLs.  The students have every right to be proud of their efforts.

           The “D” Word

Time is rapidly approaching for the Great Zany Brain Event at the Center.  We will continue on to the final unit, Science Systems, with a study of Hypocrites, his contributions to modern medicine, and our sheep brain dissection project. (This is an optional activity.  Your child may choose not to participate.)
Once again, we will need parent volunteers each day to help insure that this is a positive experience for the students.  Please call the Center (703.494.3483) or send a note, to let us know if you can help.  We will be dissecting the the week of May 11-14.

With the arrival of warmer weather, some of you have already been thinking ahead toward summer.  You may explore links from the parent resources section of the Center's main web site for ideas. (You may get there through your base schools's home page.)
