Franklin Mint vinyl Fashion Dolls

The Franklin Mint begin created vinyl celebrity fashion dolls with the Jackie doll in the late 1990's. Her success in the 15.5" size started the popularity of more celebrity dolls with fashions and trunks for redressing and play! The Franklin Mint issued the Marilyn vinyl portrait dress-up doll in 1999. Marilyn is 15 1/2" tall, jointed poseable vinyl and comes dressed in the pink gown from her movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. She comes with wonderful rhinestone jewelry and a custom stand. Future outfits were issued for Marilyn from many of her movies. There are five outfits in all, the white dress, red gown, black dress from Some Like it Hot, the pink gown and the Happy Birthday Mr. President gown.

Other celebrity dolls like Elizabeth Taylor, Vanna White, Princess Diana, Jennifer Stallone and Twiggy were issued in later years. They also began to create "fantasy" type dolls like the Julia Roman Empress doll pictured here from my collection, and the Harley Davidson, Dakota doll, also in my collection.

Here is Marilyn in her custom trunk from the Franklin Mint. The trunk was available to purchasers of the doll after 4 outfits are shipped. It is a beautiful trunk with a large space for the doll, space to hang all her gowns and 4 drawers for additional storage. It also comes with a little black velvet jewelry box for her jewelry. She is helping Gene store some of her things, as you can see.

Here is the last outfit in the Marilyn vinyl fashion doll collection, the Happy Birthday gown. It is completely covered in crystals and fits her like a glove!

Here is the first in a series of outfits that will be issued for Marilyn, the red gown from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

Here is the second in the series of outfits for Marilyn - the White Dress from the Seven Year Itch. It comes with a monogrammed scarf, a white purse, white sling back shoes and little white tap pants under the dress. The dress has a wire hem so you can bend it into whatever shape you wish, so it looks like it is blowing up.

Here is the 3rd in the series of outfits for Marilyn - the black dress from "Some Like it Hot". This outfit comes with thigh hi stockings with black lace garters with little sequin stars. She has a little metal silver flask that fits in her garter. Also included is the ukelele she played in the movie.
