The History

 

   The voluntary  work of  sea rescue begins as  an organization in Valparaiso in 1880  being  executed by originating men who belong  to the community  of different offices and activities that  dedicated their time and efforts to saveguard   the human life at the sea. 

     On year 1886 the " Body of Life-guard of Valparaiso " is based, with volunteer members  that developed its shared in common work from the coastal edge, prolonging in this way to year 1943.

 

 

   In order to make more effective  its work and to act in the  sea , Oluf Captain Christiansen Lund of Danish origin, founds in 1925 the present "   Volunteers Corp of the Lifeboats  of Valparaiso " with men who manned small boats and they go outshore to the sea during the adverse conditions of weathe to assure anchorages, to take crews and to save people in danger.

   This activity that represents the objective of the Institution  It has maintained through the time, showing with pride its present members unalterable the quality of Volunteers, which they do not hope to receive repayment by his services, being pioneering in the  South American continent

      The used material has evolved from the tube use launch cord, ferry cables, boats of double large stone bench, wood helmets, fiber helmets, water yet, to modern satellital positioning systems. By long time we have used old boats ex- RNLI, those that with special  care and  maintenance they are prolonged their life usefulness.
