Faces of Gandhinagar

Kashyap Mehta

Guruji! In the past four years I have known him, he has never uttered a sorry. Wait… I mean he has never has had a reason (or opportunity) to say so. Kashinath (as some of his peers call him… I doubt if he ever has heard being called by this name) is the model of perfection, and is the man to turn to, if you need advice. No one can be more correct than him or tackle a situation better than him… EVER! He has helped me more than anyone else have ever done in a lifetime, and simply put… there is no one else like him.

Pratibha Lasrado

Pardon me for saying it! Whenever I see Scully & Mulder I can't help think of Pratibha & me at Tata Telecom. Not that we were doing anything "X-Files", but had a friendship going that bordered on respect and mutual ballyhoo. It was the best thing to happen to me to closely be associated with a professional at the start of my career. As close as the comparison may be, she needed an explanation for every thing, never took for granted anything, and was thorough in her job. And of course, she trusted no one except Mulder… uh… uh…. I miss her as a colleague, and have been a deep admirer. She's well settled with her hubby, Noel in Bangalore and has adorable kids, Karen and Keith.

Udit Thakore

One word says it all - gentleman. He helped me most when I was juggling all my finances for college, but never asked me a word. He was the only one who never got into the mire of office politics, and always stood out tall among them all. Style, panache are all synonymous with Udit and while all twentysomes were swooning over him, he walked over 'em all to wed Manasi - and is blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Minoti. After a long stint with Tata Telecom, he moved onto better things with Reliance Telecom in his own favorite, Ahmedabad... and closer to "home" in Virginia.

Vikas Maniar

Bade Saab! Just as we say, "when the dinosaurs walked the earth", there would definitely be a time, when it would be said "when the Maniars walked the earth". Knew exactly what he wanted - be it his career, or his girl - and went for it. A s a friend, the most trusted person you can ask for, and his confidence and attitude always made you feel good. The darling of Tata Telecom, he went on after the much sought after IIMA & caught the bus. Neither did he miss, on his girl, Sonali. He forced bachelorship (as he claims) while he was in school for a couple of years, but they were back together in Bombay... moved to Bangalore... moved to Boston... moved to Maryland... moved to Seattle... moved to New Jersey... gasping for breath... me, not him.
