What is Occupational Therapy?
As students and practitioners we are asked this question over and over again. The role of an OT varies greatly form setting to setting. Here are some of our definitions of occupational therapy:
* OTs use purposeful and meaningful activity to assist people of all ages with disabilities
to become independent in their daily activities.
* OT provides you with a balance of independence at home, at work, and at play.
* OTs help people with the nuts & bolts of life.
* PTs get the person up and running; OTs do the fine tuning.
Occupations are not just what we normally call work; but they are meaningful, ordinary, and familiar activities that people do every day.
