Based on the successful design of the Enterprise (NX-01), the Atlantic has been augmented with additional firepower and other system enhancements.  For example, the ship's transporter has had extensive testing for use with crew.  Also, some improvements in the warp field coils permit a maximum speed of Warp 4.75 for brief periods.
