On this web page, I will try to provide a vision of the Marine Corps; Past, Present and Future... I will describe how the Marine Corps will meet the global security challenges of today and tomorrow, from peacetime military operations to war.

Despite significant changes in the challenges to our national security, America's fundamental national security goals remain unchanged. They are:

To protect the safety of the nation, its citizens and way of life...

To advance the welfare of our people by contributing to peace and freedom...

For six cents of every Defense dollar, the Marine Corps provides:

11% of active U.S. Forces

20% of active divisions

14% of tactical aircraft capability

The Marine Corps is set up in three forces.

Marine Forces Atlantic

Marine Forces Pacific

The force commanders report to the Commandant of the Marine Corps at

The forces are comprised of headquarters, air, ground and support units.

The headquarters unit of a force is composed of the commander's staff.

The air unit, or

Marine Aircraft Wing,

composes the aviation combat element.

The ground unit, or

Marine Division,

composes the ground combat element.

The support unit, or

Force Service Support Group,

composes the combat support element.
