lllllllllllllllll The Young Marine Mission: lllllllllllllllll The Young Marines program educates and inspires llllllllllllllll the youth within our communities by promoting a lllllllllllllll healthy and drug-free lifestyle trough instructional and adventurous activities. We develop responsible citizens using the volunteer resources of a civilian and military partnership. The teamwork and esprit-de-corps enjoyed by the Young Marines help them discover the hero within. People often think that this is a program that is for children that are having problems in school or even with the law. Well its not, sure the program will take those kids and straighten them out but that’s not really what its here for. The program is for young men and women who want to better themselves both physically and mentally. The program gives certain qualities that some people may not have for instance self-discipline and leadership traits. So it’s a program for kids that want to learn and grow. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ lllllllllllllllllllllllll The BlackStone Vally Young Marines: lllllllllllllllllllllllll The BlackStone Young Marines graduated on lllllllllllllllllllllllll Jan. 19th 2002. On that day 25 of us graduated lllllllllllllllllllllllll from bootcamp. What bootcamp is a 14 week lllllllllllllllllllllllll program that you meat every Thursday for lllllllllllllllllllllllll classes. The classes inclued PT, book work, drill, and any other activities. PT is Physical Training where you do push ups, pull ups, running, and other exercise designed to get you pysicaly and mentaly fit. The book work we have is on what is in the Young Marine Guide Book. Some of the information in it is history about the Marine Corps, Courtesy and Customs, Close Order Drill, Personal Appearance, First Aid, Hygiene, and other information. The drill part of the classes is when we form up in a formation and march, learn how to march a platoon, facing movments, and any other marching movments. After boot camp the fun does not stop the Blackstone Valley Young Marines are involved in many activities. We have had Encampments to military installations where we did things like repelling off a 90 foot tower and obstacle courses and FATS which is Fire Arms Training Simulator, we also challange our selfs mentaly and phsyicaly in other activities like rock climbing in a rock gym. We also have a drill team and a color guard that are involved with many other events outside of the normal platoon. We do a lot of community service as well as have fun; we give back to the community more then it gave to us to show our thanks. Also after boot camp there is a lot of room to grow and learn. You can go up in rank and also get a better job some are either a platoon leader, platoon guide, squad leader, team leader, and more. As of right now we have one platoon and after the boot class graduates we will have two platoons. We are planning on starting another boot class soon. Its open to boys and girls from the age of 8 to 18. If you are interested in joining you can contact me at Usmarine90@aol.com or my Commanding Officer at farmdano@yahoo.com |
