SHORTENED SCHOOL DAY
Every Thursday is a shortened day for the students at Maximo. These days are granted to our school for teachers’ planning and improvement. On shortened days, classes are dismissed at 12:25 p.m. Teachers will be in meetings promptly at 1:30 p.m. It is very important that you pick your child up on time or make child care arrangements. Child care is available, for a small fee, through the YMCA on afternoons that we dismiss early. Please call 867-5325 for more information. |

SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS
We have five Lifelong Guidelines that are used school-wide. They shape the expectations for all staff and students. They are: TRUSTWORTHINESS TRUTHFULNESS ACTIVE LISTENING NO PUT-DOWNS PERSONAL BEST These guidelines are based on mutual respect for oneself and others, and are behaviors that need to be displayed as a citizen of our MicroSociety and the real world. Please take the time to discuss and reinforce these guidelines at home as your child demonstrates them through everyday behaviors. We appreciate all you do to support our efforts. |
The MicroSociety program is the only student-based entire school reform effort of its kind. This research-based education program transforms classrooms by providing a real-world context for academic learning. Students collaborate with parents, business volunteers, and teachers to create functioning small communities. |
