San Francisco, CA - Five years of separation ended for these couples when the Navy Transport General Blatchford docked at San Francisco May 7. When the Marines were withdrawn from China before World War II began they were forced to leave their wives behind. Pictures here on arrival, left to right Master Tech. Sgt. Ivan L. Buster, newphew of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. White of Salem, Oregon and his wife, Alexandra, a native of Siberia; Corp. Elmer R. Johnson, son of Will Johnson, Chowchilla, Calif., and his wife, Asta, British-Armenian Native of Shanghai; and Staff Sgt. Percy J. Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. I. Fisher, Lota, La. And his wife Xenia.
