Welcome to the official web-page of the University of Queensland Liberal Club.
We're a very active club with more than 350 current members. The club aims to promote and achieve Liberal values and ideology on campus, as well as provide a stepping-stone into the Queensland Young Liberal movement.
The UQ Liberal Club is the oldest and largest liberal club in Australia. Its history spans more than 50 years, and has seen members such as the former Queensland Attorney-General and current Club Patron - Mr. Denver Beanland and the Hon. John Moore.
The membership of the club is diverse and exciting. Members could be classified as falling into a number of ideological groups. Conservatives, Progressives, Libertarians and Liberalists are all typical members. These differences in economic and social ideology provide for the club a number of rich debates in our meetings and on our active eGroup.
Other activities the club pursues include running a ticket in the Annual Student Union Election Campaign, a President's Drinks function, a Patron's Dinner and an 'End Of Year AGM and Party. We also have many informal drinks functions and political forums during the year.
Being a member of the UQ Liberal Club is an exciting and challanging experience. |
