International Women's Day

Amnesty International presents the Amnesty Cafe to launch the Stop Violence against Women campaign.  Join us in the Multipurpose Room for an evening of discussion and action to stop violence against women.

5:00 pm - Doors open and Meal served
Menu:
- Vegetable Samosas
- Meat and vegetable spring rolls
- Banana fritters
- Rice
- Chicken dish
- Homemade baking
+ Tea and organic fair trade coffee and juice

6:15 - Phoebe DeCiman speaks about "Women in Conflict Zones".  Phoebe is the President of the University of Regina Student's Union and has been in Canada since she was 12.  Phoebe has lived in Liberia, Ireland and Ghana before coming to Canada.

7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 - Film Viewings

7:00 - 10:30 - Creative Amnesty Activism and Social


Creative Activism - action clothes line, candle making and body collage


Letter-writing - dealing with issues of rape as a weapon of war, internally displaced people, deaths and abductions of women, illegal sterilizations, honour killings and the effects of famine.
