The purpose of the Payne Historical Society is to document obscure events in the History of Howard Payne University. The organization is in no way official and has no official ties to the university.
Why we chose our name.
The Payne Historical Society records true stories of humorous or amazing events that occured on the campus of HPU or to HPU students.
The chronicle of events
Even the best chronicler of history can leave out the living details of history. The society seeks to record these anecdotes before they are forgotten. The little things are part of what endears us to a place like Howard Payne.
The official histories probably will not record these events. That's OK, they're here. Hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed living them.
