Goldfish

Intro
When you're putting you fish into its new home, don't just have some water in the tank -- dump some gravel in the bottom, stick in a few plants and even place some cool little rocks or skull homes if you want to. Coldwater fishies don't need heated water, but if you have a tropical one, make sure you have a heater or the little guy won't last very long!

Tanks
For the tank itself, don't buy one of those cheap typical round class bowls. Your fish needs to breath, and those little bowls aren't enough room for one goldfish to swim, let alone two or three if you want more. Get an oblong shaped tank with the length being about twice the height. The tank can be made of glass, plastic or metal-framed glass.

Filtration
If you have a good balance of plants and fishies, you won't need a good filtration system, but you should always buy one anyway just in case. You need a filter to get rid of debirs by fish waste, uneaten food and dead organisms. I mean, come on, do you really want that stuff floating around with your precious fishie? I don't think so, that's just gross. You can change the water once a week but that's un-needed work that you don't have to do because the plants and fishies don't actually get anything from the cleaning except sickess from being dumped from one tank to the other. Go to your local petshop and they'll advise you on buying a good filter to accomodate your fishies.

Temperature
Your goldfish is able to live in many temperature ranges, but the best one to suit your fishie is 46 to 64* F or 8 to 18 *C.
