Uncle Bryan's   Homepage
Why ?Uncle Bryan??

When I was working in Singapore, I was quite surprised when a shopkeeper's   son addressed me as Uncle.  I later   learned that is a term of respect there.    When I started writing a short daily column on a Reuter's page, I   began signing it that way.  One of my   most popular features was the
Population Adjusted Olympic Medal   Tablefor Sydney   2000. My page onAthens attracted over 6,000 visits during the 2004 games,   and at one point was the #4 item on a Google search for Olympic medal table!

Work has kept me too busy to participate in:
Toastmasters International - (District 46 - New York Toastmasters).  Follow the links to some of  my speeches. I have found an amusing on-line nation simulation game, Cyber Nations, that takes only a few minutes a day to play to start, although you can spend more time if you get involved in politics there (their forums). You can manage your country so it will grow, or mismanage it and your people will riot.

I am not just an honorary uncle, as my sister has two children,
Crystal & Derek!

"I have   a dream" - text
On 9/11/01, I was fortunately in New Jersey for some   training.  The prior week I had spent   some time at a client's site at 7 WTC, which collapsed the afternoon of the   attacks.  My colleagues all got out safely, leaving behind workpapers   and laptops.

Having completed my CTM with the 10 speeches from the basic   manual, I picked two advanced manuals, "The Entertaining Speaker", and "Speaking to Inform".  Each has 5 speech projects, en route to my ATM-Bronze.  Follow the link for text of the speeches in   those series.

Building on my annoying (to my son) talent to write new lyrics to   existing tunes, I have spiced up my participation in minor roles at   Toastmaster's meetings as follows:

I got my MBA   from UCLA, now called the Anderson School of   Management.    My resume (MS word format) can be downloaded here.

My son has his own webpages
with some original literature based on the saga of an escaped   Roman slave mentioned in his introductory Latin text.

I am a member of the
Community Church of the Pelhams.

   There is another
Bryan Thomas who is known for his Christian Music. That isn't me. However, I did   write a hymn for the new millennium, which premiered the first Sunday in   2001 at the Community Church of the Pelhams set to   original music by Paul Johnson, their organist/choir director.  Neither of these people named Bryan Thomas should   be confused with Bryan Paul Thomas, whose music is of a different genre.  That last link is not a recommendation,   merely an aid for anyone who ended up here and wanted to go there.  Another Bryan Thomas was picked by the Jets   in the 1st round of the 2002 NFL draft.  He is a defensive end and wears #99.
