The story is set in the pre-apocalypse of 1999. Long ago, an angel named Alexiel led a group of demons to challenge the angels of heaven, lead by her twin brother Rosiel. Alexiel was defeated but with her remaining strength she imprisons her brother on Earth forever. As a punishment she will reincarnate forever into someone on Earth, each dying a tragic death. Setsuna Mudou, a young high school boy, is Alexiel's reincarnation. He loves his younger sister, Sara, and she loves him. But with demons reincarnating into their friends around them, all wanting to awaken Alexiel and challenge the heavens, their love is doomed. All Setsuna wants to do, however, is love his sister, but when Rosiel is freed from his seal and kills Sara, Setsuna feels it is his fault. He has no choice but to awaken Alexiel and protect those he loves. I love Angel Sanctuary so much! Kaori Yuki is such a talented artist! It is so sad... but I recommend it anyway!
