Welcome to the Ultraman: Super Fighter Legend Database, the only comprehensive English resource about the little-known manga or Japanese comic Urutoraman: Choutoushi Gekiden by Sagawa Ryuu and Kurihara Jin! Here you will find a definition of what exactly a Super Fighter is, background on the comic, character profiles, the storyline, a detailed synopsis of the anime inspired by it, lyrics to its theme song and links to other Super Fighter sites--unfortunately, mostly Japanese.
In case you're unfamiliar with the concept, UltraWarriors/Ultramen are red-and-silver giants over 40 metres (130 ft) in height who defend the universe from various evils. Super Fighter Legend is basically a tale of armoured UltraWarriors, armoured monsters and the quest of a rare few to become or destroy the Super Fighter, Choutoushi: a legendary warrior with no equal and powers beyond comprehension. It's a tale of good versus evil, and courage against all odds. This manga (and the anime) has been praised for its high detail and appreciation of the characters, and has also inspired a 40-minute long animated feature and a GameBoy game (not to mention some pretty nice pieces of merchandise I'd like to get my hands on!)
UMSFL is also known as Ultraman Gekiden for short (in reference to the GameBoy game), Super Warrior Legend, 'Ultraman: Super Fighter's Hard Battle' or 'The Legendary Hard Battle Of Super Fighter Ultraman' (both referring to the animated feature), and even 'Warriors of The Universe: Ultraman'. (Wira-wira Alam Semesta: Ultraman--Malay version of the manga).
You may well ask why I am devoting a whole site to this obscure Ultraman work. Well, it was the Malay version of UMSFL that rekindled my love for the red and silver superhero known as Ultraman, and very few know about it. I guess I owe something to the manga--this database is to inform those who do not know, to jog the memories of those who have forgotten and to make sure the concept is not forgotten by those who remember.
