SAMPLE TACTICS

Chi Chi, 3rd level halfling rogue. Feats: Dodge, Weapon Finesse (Short Sword)

Studded Leather, Short Sword, Daggers (3), Darts (2), Tanglefoot bag

Bluff skill: +8, Climb: +10

Chi Chi's skills and abilities lie not in his ability to engage in hard-core melee, but in dirty tricks and sneak attacks.

If he wins initiative and he can reach his opponent by moving 40 feet, he will perform a sneak attack charge with his short sword. The charge gives him another +2 to hit and the sneak attack damage is +2d6.

Regardless of initiative, if he cannot reach his opponent by charge in the first round, he will advance 20 feet towards his opponent and perform a Bluff (Feint). The following round, he will perform a sneak attack: either by charging or moving into melee and using his short sword, or by moving within 30 feet of his opponent and throwing a dart (or dagger) if necessary. His general plan of action is simply to feint in one round (preferably out of melee range), sneak attack the next.

If he loses more than half his hit points, he will attempt to make it to the pillar and Climb up. He will throw his darts or daggers down at his opponent. If his opponent tries to climb up, he will throw his tanglefoot bag on his opponent. If successful, he will jump back down and attack his weakened opponent.

Chi Chi will make use of the weapons on the wall if he is somehow disarmed or loses his weapons. He will use weapons that he is proficient at first.
