Ahoy there! I am the new, proud owner of ultramuffin.com! I have a whole new layout (that's more reader-friendly... no more super-tiny fonts). I'm not sure if or how often I'll update this Geocities website now, there's probably no reason to. The front page of ultramuffin.com is to serve as sort of a journal or "blog" (in hip terms), so it'll probably have an ungodly amount of stuff to read at any given time (assuming I maintain enthusiasm, which in the past has always fluctuated). I'm paying for hosting, which was a lot cheaper than I thought it would be ($8 a month for 500mb webspace, 30gb bandwidth, PHP and MySQL support), so I'll have plenty of room for anything I want, including videos of shit blowing up in microwaves and ravens eating trash at -40 degrees... you know, the bare necessities.

8/13/03
I added another entry into the Sam's Club Log since I last updated this front page. I also added a handful of those short little EMusic album reviews over at the emusic section, and just recently finished what will probably be known as the weirdest thing on my website, The Adventures of UltraMuffin and Burrito #1. I listed that over at the long-neglected hallucinations section, along with my little classroom seating pattern thing I made a long time ago but never actually listed anywhere. For anyone that's interesting, I finished that book The Elegant Universe by Briane Green a couple weeks ago, and I think my brain grew from reading it. I'm now reading Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny. Lately, I've been listening to Numb, Out Out, L'âme Immortelle, BlutEngel and King Tubby, and doing something I never thought I'd be able to do: listening to music at a volume that won't slaughter my ears. I beat a single track in Project Gotham Racing for Xbox that I've been working on for around eight hours. It was painfully fun. I have a couple more weeks of work left, which will, of course, seem like the longest two weeks I've ever worked... I want outta there! Come faster winter!

Heyo! It's me, UltraMuffin, once again! No new site updates, but I think I might get to work on yet another "section". I just, get this, subscribed to an mp3 site, EMusic. I never would have thought I would do such a thing, but there's several reason. First of all, as time progresses, the artists I find myself listening to are becoming quite obscure, and thus very difficult to find quality mp3s of. Also the RIAA is in the process of filing 100s of lawsuits against file sharers, and even though I don't typically download material owned by the RIAA (or share it), I'm afraid I might accidentally stumble in forbidden territory. I know the odds of getting in trouble are nearly nothing, but I'm feeling a bit paranoid. Now, I stumbled across EMusic while searching the internet for sound samples of some of my favorite bands to post on a message board. They have albums upon albums available for download from some of my favorite artists (Front Line Assembly, Velvet Acid Christ, Haujobb, Wumpscut, etc.), as well as 100s and 1000s of artists in any genre you can think of. They have very little mainstream music because none of the labels belonging to the RIAA are part of this site. It costs $10-$15 a month (depending on whether you go for three months or a year) and you get to download as much as you want (actually there's a pseudo-limit of 2000 songs a month, but that's like 130 albums a month). I think that's a damn good deal! Also, I feel good supporting the artists and labels that have nothing to do with the RIAA. The RIAA would rather make consumers pay for their own resources via peer-to-peer, whereas EMusic is providing the music and the bandwidth in a neat little packaged community. So, obviously I'm pumped about this. I've already found seven new artists in the last two days on EMusic that I love (some of the good old industrial music, some ambient, some trip hop). So I'm thinking about making a section for my site for all the EMusic bands I love. I think I might replace my "Bands I Like" section with it, since that section has never really served a purpose. Yes, it took me that long to get to the point.

A few more stories have been added to the Sam's Club log over the past week or so. It amazes me that I've been working there for like five weeks already. I'm almost half done working there for the summer! I finished The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick and am halfway through The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene (which, among other things, explains special relativity, general relativity, quantum mechanics, string theory and hidden dimensions in words an average person can understand... most of the time). I'm gonna feel like a real genius after I finish it! I watched Donnie Darko last night, great movie. Also, I'm downloading episodes of Twin Peaks for some reason. And listening to what I will think of from here on out as the summer albums of 2003: Tricky's Angels With Dirty Faces and Front Line Assembly's Epitaph (whereas the summer albums of 2002 were PIG's Genuine American Monster, Das Ich's Anti'Christ, and Feindflug's Vierte Version). I bought Tetris Worlds Online for Xbox Live, and when I'm not plunking down four lines at a time, I'm discussing the fragile nature of tampon smoking and other such paradoxes of gravity such as high-jacking a square piece and flying it into the deep pit of Tetricest. Obviously voice chat is not essential for this game with that kind of nonsense being ping-ponged between odd geeks like me.

An update! How about that! Well, I'm working at Sam's Club again, as a cashier this time, and constant interaction with customers can be pretty interesting, so I just created a "Sam's Club Log" (link to your left). I make no promises that it will be funny, but that should come as no suprise if you're a frequent visitor to this site (sometimes things are a little whacked you see, watch your step!). I ummm, well I've been playing Shenmue a bit lately, almost have it beat. Also been playing some CounterStrike and reading! Since my last update, I've read...

  • Count Zero by William Gibson
  • Mona Lisa Overdrive by William Gibson
  • Choke by Chuck Palahniuk
  • Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
  • Ubik by Philip K. Dick

... and right now I'm reading The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick. For those of you not in the know, Philip K. Dick was the guy that wrote the books/stories that the movies Minority Report, Blade Runner, and Total Recall were based on. He's an incredible author and I plan on reading all 36 of his novels!

Added a new "real life story" here and a new rant here. I'm feeling particularly write-e today! Oh and also, I saw this standup comedy show on Comedy Central last night with Lewis Black. I think that man is my new favorite comedian. Also, I want to fill up even more of this space to make it look more pleasing to the eye on my main page here so I uhh... I'm reading this book called "Masters of Deception: The Gang That Ruled Cyberspace", it's quite good! It's sorta like that movie Hackers, but real... well, based on real events anyway.

1/17/03
Added something new that illustrates the various seating patterns you might come across in a classroom! You can see that here. Today was the second day of the new semester, my classes seem alright, but it's really too early to tell! Either way, I'll pull through! Oh, and a couple nights ago I actually watched the entire movie The Matrix while listening to the audio commentary... do people actually listen to that stuff? Either way, it was somewhat interesting, but coulda been better!

1/8/03
Added a new section that's a list of bands and artists I like, my favorites are in bold! I beat Amped and Jet Set Radio Future over the last week or so, and now I'm working on Project Gotham Racing. Trying to finish up some of the games I'm in the middle of before buying the other 10,000 games I want. Also, I think I just realized, it's difficult to have fun without having any work to do, so I'm actually sort of looking forward to school for the first time in my life. Oh and also, I'm thinking of making an Xbox section, because there's really a lot of games I feel like spreading the word about!

Tomorrow we're having Christmas dinner UltraMuffin style!

Howdy! So... Drew hasn't yet sent me the pictures I need to write my really cool next story... But I updated the "rants" section with something I posted on a forum rather spontaneously called "The Rebel Pixel". It didn't take much thought because this had been brewing in the back of my mind for a while now. Oh yeah, and I've really been in the reading mood as of late. I'm about to finish William Gibson's Virtual Light after only about two weeks! Next up is Chuck Palahniuk's Survivor.

Why don't you deliver us from pain and evil
We stand in a quiver of our god and we will
Follow his will as long as he will feed us
But we're not sure if he does really need us

Well, hmmm... haven't had an update for a while. But I think I'm gonna have a new "story" to post... and this one is gonna have pictures (assuming Drew eventually sends them to me!)... But, for now... I removed the Muffin Radio thinger cuz Live365 removed all the freebie accounts long ago :( Oh, and I've been playing MegaMan III and Rainbow Six (and CounterStrike) lately... some of the best games ever made! Also, I have an overwhelming urge to eat gummi bears and Ruffles chips and watch the movie Labyrinth.

Just added a new section: the real life stories section! Real life stories of mine! It's coming to you in the ultra great crappy page format! (explanations within) I'm debating whether to keep it the way it is or just make it a text file instead.

7/18/02
Okay! I can't let a whole year go by without me updating my site... so I'm gonna try and get some new stuff on here... including updates to my like and hate lists... and I'm thinking about adding my own "deep thoughts" page. You know, deep thoughts! Like Jack Handy!

Okay! I updated my lists of things I like and hate! Enjoy!

11/23/01
Added "Recording Industry Association of America" to rants section. Read about them! See why I hate them so much! Boycott them! Spread the word! It's okay to hate them! And, Megaman 1 is one hardass game.

What is it that you do? / We are menacing together
Never told you what is true / I only wished for the better
It won't do / Let's not pretend

:: Slick Idiot - It Won't Do ::

11/22/01
Had Thanksgiving dinner... turkey sucks. Added Grandia II to game reviews section. Readying myself up for an intense session of Megaman 1. Downloading mucho Jackass off of XoloX (and leaving it on overnight to share my stuff with other people, as everyone should do). Ahhhh... what to do what to do.

Evil is ruling over my existence

11/18/01
I'm trying out a new file sharing program called XoloX right now, I added a review of it on the file sharing page. It's very cool. Just starting Shenmue last night, it's a very calming game, I like! Four day weekend just around the corner, sounds good!

Gerechtigkeit entfache gib' uns eine Rache
Die da hilft der Sache sich auszubalancieren
Viele Augen weinen werden es bereuen
Sich zu früh zu freuen Hoffnung wird zu Schreien

:: KMFDM - Bereit ::

11/17/01
Just added "Janet Jackson" to the hallucinations section. I beat Grandia II for Dreamcast last night! Yeah! That damn game is finally over! Now, decisions... should I play Shenmue or Shadowman next? Hmmmm. Or maybe Metal Gear Solid (the first one).

Oh, why can't I live a life for me?
Why should I take the abuse that's served?
Why can't they see they're just like me
It's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world

:: Ministry - Everyday Is Halloween ::

11/14/01
I added a couple game reviews a few days ago and neglected to tell you... and just added "Sneezing" to the rants section... another interesting piece of literature straight from the ultrabrain, and a review of KMFDM's Adios in the album review section. I encourage everyone to eat mexican food on Thanksgiving instead of contributing to the annual slaughter of giant birds... on the holiday to celebrate our ancestors making friends with the people they later killed off and chased away to reservations. Screw Thanksgiving... fuck turkey. Just gimme a bean burrito and some eggnog damnit, that tastes 10x better. Native Americans are right to protest Thanksgiving every year... this holiday is offensive and worthless.

What goes around will come around / And after all we'll all fall down
No one here is anyone / And in a while we'll all be gone

:: MDFMK - Now ::

Another damn sunday, a time when I should be happy, but cannot be because another week of school lies right around the corner. At least I got no homework due tomorrow! Yeah! ... Looking forward to national turkey hypocrite day, where I will continue my yearly tradition of Earthworm Jim. You don't have to understand, as long as I do... you see. Xbox is released this thursday I believe, how long before the consumer bait catches me... eh?

And it's true we are immune / When fact is fiction and TV reality
And today the millions cry / We eat and drink while tomorrow they die

:: U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday ::

11/07/01
Nope, nothing new, but I'm gonna start adding little song lyric snippets to my updates that match my mood... so:

A fading signal of distress / Counting the wounded / No time too rest
A final prayer / This ship's going down / Faces lie forward / Hands are all bound

:: Front Line Assembly - Retribution ::

Ah hell, there's too many to pick from, here's another!

Turn the clock to zero boss / The rivers wide we'll swim across
We're starting up a brand new day

:: Sting - Brand New Day ::

11/02/01
Added "Vision Resolution" to hallucinations section. I'm not sure what the point of that one was. Show me a swan and I'll hit you in the head with a doorknob in a sock, you badass mudda. New review (sorta) of Pac-Man in game reviews section!

11/01/01
Couple more game reviews. One more rant. More updates expected soon.
// Muffin 2.0 is still in development, stand by...

08/31/01
Lots of stuff added over the last week or so, but I don't remember what it was, so you can find it yourself! Added the rants section, and shed some light on the most godforsaken torment this universe has to offer.

08/24/01
HiYo! I made a new Game Reviews section a couple days ago, I'm workin on filling it up with extremely outdated game reviews and the like! Also, I'm considering adding a Rants section, cuz creating a hate list made me realize I have a lot to complain about! Maybe it will make me feel better to get it all out of my system :)

08/21/01
Added "The Power of Knowledge" to the hallucinations section, another fine and interesting piece of reading for all you good folks. I think I've got another hallucination in the works! My head hurts! Also, I added a review for the KMFDM's Nihil in the album review section... and if you haven't noticed, I changed the contents bar a bit. Two wallpapers added to the photoshop section, and a new "things i hate" section.

08/19/01
Well then, haven't updated in quite some time... here I am, a driver's license and 768mb of RAM later. Nothing's really changed, and I don't really have anything new to add... BUT! I did add a guest book! Judging from Geocities' stats thing, my site actually does get some action. So maybe now I'll get to see who is visiting! Yeah!

06/21/01
Added a bunch of potentially offensive Counter-Strike sprays. At least I censored the really graphic ones! But hey... anything to distract the other team in a game is fair game, right? Probably more to come real soon!

06/18/01
Yo! I added "Eight Ball Magazine" to the links section, and added another Counter-Strike spray. If you have not seen 12 Monkeys, go rent it! I've seen the beginning of that movie a few times but for one reason or another, had never seen past the first 20 minutes. But I watched it all the way through for the first time a couple nights ago... it's weird! It's cool! It's interesting (unlike most movies I see these days)!

06/15/01
Music is good for the mind and spirit! I woke up today feelin pretty down in the dumps, and pretty much went the entire day like that. But, I just got done laying down with my eyes closed, doing nothing but listening to music for roughly two hours, and I feel great! It seemed like I had slowed down time sorta, twice the relaxation in half the time! ... or something. Anyway, I added a links section since I realized the quick links thingy wouldn't work for everything since I wanna have descriptions... and I added Ironcat's site to the links. "Pink Spheres of Expanding Happiness" has been added to hallucinations. Also, a few more Counter-Strike sprays!

06/12/01
Woke up in the middle of the night today after two hours of sleep... felt wide awake. I had nothing better to do, sooo... I wrote and added "Nocturnal Scanline Parallelism" to hallucinations, it's probably my most overworked piece of writing to date! Yeah! God I wish I was tired. I don't feel right being wide awake after two hours of sleep. Especially considering I only got four hours the night before.

06/10/01
All sections are now complete! I can rest! There is now lots of stuff for you to enjoy... and, hopefully there will be more soon. I have nothing more to say really, but I hate filling an update box with only a few lines of words, so I'm not gonna! I saw Evolution today. Awesome movie! It's funny as hell and it's got amazing effects. Go see it!

06/09/01
w00t! Well, I'm hard at work filling up each section of my site with... stuff. I like how it's looking! I got six hours of sleep. I woke up in my room cuz my room was literally 100 degrees or over. Jesus it was hot. I had my window closed cuz it was raining yesterday and my comp usually keeps my room a helluva lot hotter than the rest of the house... arg! And us Alaskans, we don't have air conditioning typically, the closest substitute is a bowl of ice cream :)

06/08/01
Okay! Anyone that knows me probably thinks I'm going to ditch this site like I have all my others. No! I'm gonna make sure this one stays updated at least semi-often, and I will do this by making it so cool looking that I can't resist nuturing it and feeding it and making it grow into my little evil (yeah... right) place to deposit useless information about myself and... other stuff. Ummm, welcome! Enjoy! More to come soon!
