Compact Disc containing over 1,304 Screenplays and Teleplays

Includes a CD Tree file listing every script on the disc and its location on the disc.

The Instant Screenplay / Teleplay Library

With over 1,304 screenplays in one place (more than I am aware of on one CD anywhere), you have at your fingertips the singular best screenwriting training tool there is. While it helps to study the books, methods, and 3-act structure, reading what others have already helps to solidify your knowledge, stimulate your thinking, and motivate you to be just like those who came before you.

In addition, this disc has been recently redesigned to make finding the great scripts easier. Scripts that have won Oscars for best screenplay are in their own directory! Scripts that are in the Internet Movie Database's top 250 list are isolated! Also, the disc contains no fan fiction or virtual series scripts so you can start with the best!

Where did these screenplays come from?

These screenplays originated from all over the internet. You can acquire most of these free somewhere on the net, but not all of them. Some of them came from sites that no longer exist for one reason or another (like the Star Wars Holiday Special), and some (like Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) cannot be found anywhere on the net, because no one has ever posted it.

Are the screenplays in proper format?

Yes. Some of the formats vary, but for the most part they are all in proper screenplay format. When you get scripts from the internet, they are sometimes not in proper format. We have "fixed" these nearly impossible to read disasters into the proper format so there is consistency throughout the volume of screenplays. The worst you might run across on a very small number of the scripts is an awkward page break. Compare that to anyone else.

I really mean that! There are other script CD's, but format is what separates this one from the others. I used to show off a sample of this, but had too many links on the auction. Email me if you want a before and after of what we did to Alien 3.
We also do not have html-to-pdf conversions, and all of our scripts are black on white (not white on black or black on blue or any other funky colors). Anybody can download scripts from the internet, but only we make unreadable scripts readable again.

Click Here for pages from Return of the King to see what proper format looks like.

What kinds of files are on the disc?

The disc contains two file types:
PDF - This is the most widely distributed file type in the world right now and uses the free reader available from www.adobe.com/acrobat. Most computers have one version or another of this reader already installed, and if you don't, it's free. About 93% of the files are in this format.

HTML - This is the chosen file type of the internet. To read these files, all you need an internet browser. Bottom line: if you're reading this page, you can read these files. About 7% of the files are in this format.

The bottom line: This CD is compatible with Windows and Mac and any other system that can read these files.

What's in it for the fans? After all, not everyone wants to write a screenplay.

Remember the deleted scenes that seem to come with nearly every movie released on DVD? Those are only a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of change the average screenplay undergoes from the paper to the silver screen. Most screenplays have alternate scenes, different dialogue, and in some cases, multiple drafts and storylines for the same movie...for example:
---Alien3 went through 5 different writers, the earliest draft places Ripley in a coma, Newt is sent home to her grandparents, and Hicks is the lead character.
---Freddy's Dead actually used Alice and Jacob as well as three of the "Dream Warriors" from Nightmare 3 in its earliest incarnation
---An early draft of Star Wars 2 boasts Padme assembling C-3PO's plating from spare parts in the Lars Garage while Anakin is out
---If you like Elvish, the Elvish dialogue and English translations is there for the actors in the screenplays of the Lord of the Rings movies.
Screenplays are fun for the fans as much as aspiring writers.
This also means that not all the screenplays are the final shooting drafts. You can read first or intermediate drafts that do not 100% line up with the final product indicating early ideas or thrown out sequences!

What screenplays are on the CD?

The 1,304 scripts contained on this CD span cinema from the silent era to current blockbusters and television from established shows to internet based virtual series. See below for a partial listing. A complete listing is available by request.
