Lil Weavah - Underground Music

Lil Weavah aka Killa Kamikaze is the biggest selling underground artist in the state of Georgia. Now back with the new album, Underground Music, Weavah's out to prove that he's got next. The album features T-Rock, Max Minelli, Paul Wall, Magno, Da Grit Boys, & more.

After the "Welcome To The South (Intro)", Lil Weavah steps right into the ring with the title track "Underground Music" in which he tells an autobiographical tale of his rise on the ATL underground rap music scene, over a blaring horns and piano laced beat.

On "Street Talk", Lil Weavah and T-Rock rip a track about all the fakers out there talkin that gangsta shit but ain't ready to back that up. T-Rock definitely demonstrates why he is one of the most underrated artists in the South period.

Some of the other standout tracks on the album include "Money," the grimey hood anthem "Cuss We Poe", and the smooth ridin cut "State of Mines".

On the track "We Living" featuring Baton Rouge underground star Max Minelli, the nice production and honest lyrical displays by both would make this a dope single for those looking for something other than the occasional club banger.

Our favorite track has to be the cut "What's Life" which features tight production and just displays Weavah's lyrical skills that set him apart from some of the ATL currently featured in the hip-hop mainstream.

Now a CD outta ATL just wouldn't be the same without an uptempo cut or two which could be blasted from the club or from the trunk and it doesn't disappoint with tracks like "Self Made" and "Stop Hatin". The difference is that Lil Weavah always gives you a story with the track, most of them being from the first person point of view.

Lil Weavah closes out "Underground Music" with an Atlanta-Houston connection on the tracks "Talk Is Cheap" with Paul Wall & Da Grit Boys and on the song "They Got It" featuring a standout verse from Magno, the former partner of Mike Jones.

Overall, the production by Lil Weavah, CHOPS, DJ Cree, J.A, Breez, Key Pushers, The Cancer, Jut, SS, & Cyber Sapp is pretty good. For the most part, the beats fit Lil Weavah's rap style quite well. Lil Weavahs seems to be more polished on the mic each time we hear him and it won't be long before the major labels come calling with some serious offers. Then the rest of the country can no longer call him 'underground' anymore. This album is definitely worth checking out to see that ATL offers more than snap/crunk music. You'll be glad you got it.
