T-Rey - Reality
Reviewed By: ULTIMATECDLINK
Album Rate: 3.5 out of 5 Stars

T-Rey is a lyricist from Atlanta, GA and he drops his solo debut album on Double Or Nothing Entertainment. The album features the likes of his producer Double and vocals by Meredith.

1. Intro-- just some talkin on the intro

2. Reality-- this track starts off with some laid back beats along with the sound of a rainfall in the background. T-Rey talks about his life in this cold cruel world. It's a deep track that'll make you see life from another perspective.

3. U Know Me-- this track has a simple midtempo beat with T-Rey rappin about the "real" T-Rey and how he come up in the game. I'm not feelin this one too much in terms of the beats nor the flow.

4. It Doesn't Matter (f/ Meredith)-- T-Rey brings choppy flow of rap in a style similar to Silkk the Shocker on this one. Meredith sings on the hook which goes "it doesn't matter what they say bout you/cause in the end they all gon' respect you". It's an all right track but the beat is a little lacking.

5. Life In Rhyme (interlude)

6. By Any Means-- this track has a funky down south beat reminiscent of something that Outkast might have tried. The interruptions in the middle of the track with the Saturday Night Live parody of the Tim Meadows character "The Ladies Man" kinda ruins the flow of the track and it ends up seeming more like a skit than an actual track. Otherwise, it's one of the better tracks on the album.

7. Tryin Times-- this track has a rather simple beat over which T-Rey talks about the white man tryin to hold down the black man and fail to recognize all the contributions of the black man to society. It's another deep track that'll defnitely make you think.

8. U Know-- this track has a more uptempo beat than we've seen so far on the album. T-Rey brings lyrics to mic about how he's gonna make it in the rap game. It's a bumpable track.

9. Lyrical Assasult (f/ Double)-- this track has a midtempo beat over which T-Rey raps about how no other MC can compare to him. Double adds a nice verse as well. It's a nice track that's bumpable.

10. Life Sucks (skit)

11. Honesty-- this track has a laid back beat with a snare drun bassline along with some funky tones. This is one of those relationship tracks about being honest and not bullshittin around. It's an all right track.

12. Who's Who (f/ Double)-- this track has some heavy basslines in it. T-Rey spits lyrics about someone who's paronoid and not know who's who or what's what. It's a decent track.

13. Lessons Of Life-- this track has a laid backsymphony orchestra type beat. T-Rey comes to the mic with some real lyrics about perseverce, hard work, etc. to succeed in life. Nice track.

14. Love & Hate-- this track has a high pitched beat that starts to get annoying after a while. T-Rey doesn't really come with any spectacular on this track. It's not one of my favorites on the album.

15. Salvation-- this track has a funky blues guitar sound over a bassline. T-Rey raps about he's grateful to Jesus Christ for giving His life for him. The album ends on a positive note with a positive message.

16. Outro

Overall, I thought the album was a little lacking in terms of the beats. When the beats aren't all there, the vocals don't seem to come as tight either. I thought T-Rey could have showed more variety with the tracks on the album because they all seemed to have that "poetry concert" feel to them. T-Rey has signed with Atlanta Presents Entertainment and will drop his new solo album "Reality 2: The Chronicles of William Souder" soon so go out and support one of ATL's up-and-coming artists.
