Too Short - What's My Favorite Word?

Album Rate: 4.0 out of 5 Stars

Too Short has been in the game for many years and although he's gotten older, his style of rap hasn't changed a bit. His 14th album features Bun B, Devin, Lil Jon & Eastside Boyz, Twista, Big Gipp, E-40, B-Legit, Ant Banks, Petey Pablo, & more.

1. Triple X-- this track has a nice little funky mid tempo beat. Too Short lays down some lyrics about gettin his dick sucked and fuckin. Nothin new here right? It's a nice track that you can just back and bump.

2. Get That Cheese (f/ Roger Troutman Jr.)-- this track has a catchy west coast beat. Short Dog raps about smokin weed and making chedda. Another solid song that's worth givin a listen to.

3. That's Right-- this track has a laid back pimped out beat. Too Short drops some decent flows on this one. Not that bad of a track.

4. The Old Fashioned Way-- this track has a nice mid tempo beat with some nice basslines. Too Short comes with a little faster flow than his usual slowed down pimp spittin and raps about how he's still original even though this is his 14th album. Pretty nice track that you can bump.

5. Quit Hatin Pt. 1 (f/ Twista & Lil Jon & Eastside Boyz)-- this track which was the first single from the album was produced by and features Lil Jon so you get that crunk feel to the song. Twista flows his ass off on the first verse. Lil Jon throws in the hook "quit hatin muthafucka quit hatin". It's definitely a change of pace on the album and it's a decent track. Nothing great but you can bump it.

6. Quit Hatin Pt. 2 (f/ Pimp C & Lil Jon)-- this track has a little different beat than the first one with some synthesizer sounds mixed in. Pimp C sounds like his verse was recorded over the phone while Lil Jon is still chantin on the hook. I like this version better than the original.

7. Lollypops-- this track has a darker gangsta beat. Too Short raps in a choppy style of rap that I wasn't really feelin too much. The hook is corny as well.

8. Female Players-- this track has a live band type beat to it. Too Short drops some verses about the type of women he likes to fuck namely the female players. The beat is kinda wack but Short comes correct on the mic.

9. Cali-O (f/ E-40, B-Legit, & Ant Banks)-- this track has a nice laid back mid tempo beat. Short drops the funny line "you'll never be in Outkast with that stank-on-ya". E-40 drops a really short verse. B-Legit drops an all right verse. Tight song.

10. Pimp Life (f/ Devin, Bun B, & Big Gipp)-- this track has a laid back piano laced pimp shit beat. Devin drops a tight verse over the beat that seems like it was made for his style of rap. Bun B raps slower on his verse but he sounds pretty tight as well. Too Short sounds tight as hell on his verse while Big Gipp of Goodie Mob does a nice job of finishing the track out. Don't skip this one cause it's one of the best tracks on the album.

11. Call It Gangster (f/ Petey Pablo & Dolla Bill)-- this track has a little bit of a southern feel to the beat. Don't really care much for Petey Pablo singin on the hook and he doesn't sound that tight on his verse. Short comes decent on the mic though.

12. Set Up-- Too Short raps about how the government gave crack cocaine to everyone back in the day and how it flipped niggas out. It's an all right track but I don't really care much for the beat he used.

13. She Loves Her-- this track has a laid back beat that's almost perfect for Short to rap about fuckin and gettin his dicked sucked. It's a pretty nice song.

14. The Movie (f/ George Clinton & Belita Wood)-- this track has that piano gangster type beat that reminds me of the Murder Inc. sound. Too Short doesn't sound that tight on this track and almost sounds like he recorded his verses in the bathroom with the echoes. Nice beat but mediocre rhymes.

Overall, I thought the production on the album was really nice. You know what you're gonna get with a Too Short album and he pretty much delivered. The album had some nice guest spots but seemed overly cluttered with guest features at times. Otherwise, it's a solid album that the Too Short fans will enjoy.
