Slow Motion Soundz is looking to put Alabama hip-hop on the map. With their 2 CD album featuring some of the top underground rappers in Bama & across the South, they appear primed and ready. Following on the heels of the V.S.O.P. compilation, "Legends In The Making" features Niccademus, Mr. Marcellus, South P.A.W., Mali Boi, Pope, Jhi Ali, Mata, Chico, and the rest of the Slow Motion camp, as well as the single "Lacs & Prices" w/ T.I.

Disc 1

Right from the intro track "Illegal", cats like Mr. Marcellus rip the mic. The duo South P.A.W. come correct on hard hitting street cuts such as "Throwed Off (remix)" and "What I Gotta Do" and on the ultra smooth laid back track "Live From N.W.P.", the title track from their upcoming debut album.

The radio and video single getting airplay on the late night show, BET Uncut, is "Lacs & Prices (remix)" featuring J Sih, Mr. Marcellus, Pope, & the self-proclaimed 'King Of The South', T.I. The song is all about those big bodies and big wheels on the Lacs and Caprices we ride on down in the dirty dirty. Lacs & prices, max & creases, paint that flip-n-flop, and drip twinkle... T.I. displays that raw brash sound that got him noticed on the underground before he blew up nationwide while the rest of the Slow Motion crew really outshine him on the whole.

The thing that stands out on the album is that you get a nice influence of styles from all across the South, from the Texas sound on tracks like "Money On The Wood" featuring Mali Boi, DAWG, & P.O.P.E. all the way to the Midwest with an outstanding effort from Milwaukee's own Niccademus on the track "Murder" all tied together with that Dirty Dirty sound from those Bama boys.

Tracks like "Dirty Dub" featuring South P.A.W. & Mic Strange will have the strip clubs bouncin while other songs like "Momma Never Told Me" by X.O. take you on a walk down the dark side of the entertainment industry. Disc 1 also features street bangers like "In My Trunk" featuring CP, Mata, J-Sib, & Gunt, as well as laid back cuts like "Beat Down The Walls" with Mata, Jhi Ali, & Mr. Marcellus.

Disc 2

The second disc starts off with a midtempo laced beat track called "Welcome To Alabama" featuring the duo South P.A.W. which introduces everyone to how it goes down from the Gump to B-Ham. South P.A.W. are the artists that are featured the most on Disc 2, from alright efforts on "Me & My Cousin (remix)" and "Live Gangstas" to more polished cuts like "Back Off Me".

The overall feel of Disc 2 has a more subdued feel on both the beats and the content of the tracks. From "Ghetto Tearz" with CP, Pope, Mali Boi, & Dawg which takes a look at the fallen ghetto soldiers out there to "My Way" with Jhi Ali who tells us that no matter what happens with his life, even if he died today, there are no regrets because he did it his way.

There are high energy, crunked up tracks like "Who Want Some" featuring X.O. who challenges all comers to step to him and get the taste slapped out their mouths, all over a Rocky theme inspired beat.

J Sib's track "Cookie Doe" has a nice feel with a hint of commercial single in it even though a track about sellin dope will never be played nationally from an underground artist. Street cuts like "Get Up Off Me" with Mali Boi, Jhi Ali, CP, Mata, & Chico and "South Shit" featuring Puncho, Gunt, Jhi Ali, & Firt are sure to have you puttin those songs on replay.

Overall, the production by 767 Musik Productions (CP, Frank Nitty, & Mali) are on point for most of the album with those hard hitting basslines and hi-hats assocated with a nice Dirty South sound. It's a pretty good bet that over the course of 2 discs, that there's a little something for everyone, from street bangers to laid back rhymes to high energy songs. There are a lot of artists on this album so it may be tough for the average listener to keep up with who is rapping without looking at the booklet liner notes. But these cats have skills and it's a safe bet to say that they will be heard from again in the future on a wider scale nationwide. If you're looking for some new Bama rap, check out this double album.
