Scar - Back Up When U C The Paw

Scar is a 6 man rap group outta Sarasota, Florida. Calibre, Smiff, Tite Snow, Big T, Young Tripp, and Caliber are unknown underground rappers right now but with a major label deal, there's no doubt they'd be the talk of the South.

1. Intro - Tell Em Who We Are-- just a lil intro with just a hook

2. What Is This? Beef (Dirty Middle)-- this track has a tight eerie dark beat. Calibre rips the track in a fast midwest style a la Do Or Die or Psychodrama. Young Tripp rips the track with a tight rapid fire delivery as well. They do it well in a way that you can actually understand the lyrics they are spitting unlike many tongue twisting rappers. The hook goes "Beef my nigga? We can take this to the streets my nigga". Very solid track to start the album off with.

3. We Ridin-- this track has a midtempo beat with lots of drums and claps in it. It sounds like one of those typical flossin tracks outta the Dirty South. Not really feelin this one too much.

4. Ten Toes Down-- this one has that medieval video game sound with deep basslines on the beat and it actually works well. Smiff starts it off and comes with a nice delivery that will have ya bobbin ya head along to the beat and verse. The hook goes "do your thang dawg I'mma do mine/Ten toes down when I'm out on the grind/you hatin me I ain't got time/ten toes down when I'm out on the grind". Everyone pretty much rips the track and the beat just makes it that much tighter.

5. Back It Up When U C The Paw-- this track has a slower piano beat with the hi-hats and bassline that is tight as fuck. Calibre starts it off with a very nice verse bringin the heat with his rapid fire delivery. Tite Snow also drops a standout verse on the song. Nice catchy hook and just overall tempo and flows keep you into the song all the way through. One listen to this song will have ya wondering how these guys are practically unknown across the South.

6. When I Close My Eyes-- this track has a slower beat with hi-hats and deep basslines that's really nice. Caliber, Tite Snow, Young Tripp, and Calibre straight come correct on the mic. They ride the beat so perfectly that you can literally close your eyes and follow their words with your mind. Another solid track.

7. Hustlers & Ballers-- this track has an old school East Coast feel on the beats that kinds reminds me of an old Biggie song. It's just a song to all the hustlers and ballers out there that the feds are watchin so they need to be careful of what they do. Decent song but after following 2 of the best tracks on the album, it comes across as a disappointment.

8. Who's In Command?-- this track has a laid back midtempo beat with the church bells and hi-hats kickin in. Smiff, Tite Snow, and Big T do a pretty good job on the mic especially when the toungue twistin starts. It has a bit of a Memphis feel to the track. Good bumpin song with a nice beat but the hook is a lil weak, just chants of "Who's in command here?/Scar Scar".

9. Game Over-- this track has a stutterin symphonic type beat with deep basslines designed to knock in the ride. Calibre and Young Tripp come with the gangsta lyrics on this one talking to all the haters out there and lettin them know that they ain't gonna do shit. Nice song.

10. Unconditional Love-- slow piano beat with a faster hi-hi tempo. Basically, Big T and Tite Snow rap about how they need a woman who will give them unconditional love and accept them for who they are even though they are thugs. Every album needs a slower love song to change the pace a bit and this album is no different.

11. We Want It All-- this track has more of an uptempo happy-go-lucky, go out and party vibe to the beats. Big T, Tite Snow, and Smiff rap about how they want it all when it comes to their music-- jewelry, big rims, fast cars, faster women, etc. It's a flossy song but done a little differently than you're typical Southern track of the same content.

12. S-C-A-R-- this track has a laid back armegeddon comin for ya ass type beat. Good cadence on the verses make it fit into that Memphis style of rap perfectly. Nice tongue twistin on the song also. The hook is just a chant of "Who we be/S-C-A-R (scar)" over and over. This is a really tight ass track here.

13. Real Nigga-- this track has a slower piano beat over some deep basslines. The hook goes "you can get yours cause I'mma get mine/fuck bling bling if it's still gone shine/my bankroll too thick to drop dimes/why? cause I'ma real nigga". It's a catchy song but at times it seems like it's mediocre compared to the other standout tracks on the album. Nice song even though it just seems to drag out toward the end.

14. What Is This? Beef (Dirty South mix)-- this track features then entire group with a sicker beat and less of the tongue twistin that they had on the Dirty Middle version. Still a solid track overall and in our opinion, it sounds better than the midwest version of the song.

Overall, the production on the album is pretty damn good. This is one of the hottest underground albums that we have heard this year and trust me, we listen to tons of albums. It would rank up there as one of the tightest albums of the year if they had any kind of name for themselves across the South. Each member of the group brings a unique flow to the mic and you are gonna appreciate this album no matter if you are a Dirty South fan or a fan of the tongue twistin Midwest--there's something here for everyone. Don't sleep on this group because if this album is any indication of what we are in store for in the future, Scar has a very nice career ahead of them.
