Playa Fly - Fly2K

Playa Fly finally drops the highly anticipated album "Fly2K" even though he's currently locked up in the pen. The album consists of a lot of telephone interludes and older tracks mixed in with some unreleased songs.

1. Lil 2K-- just an intro with a little kid sayin "I-B-N in da wind" over and over

2. Bill Chill Lives-- this track seems like just an extension of the song "Gettin It On" from Playa Fly's 3rd album which featured Fly's deceased father, Bill Chill. The beat is pretty much the same and the hook is similar as well. Fly still manages to come tight as hell in his patented style on the track.

3. White Boy Billy-- interlude with Fly over the telephone

4. Dude-- another interlude with Fly over the phone

5. Crownin Me-- this track is a Playa Fly classic that was featured on his first album "Fly Shit". Still a great flow and great hook on here and still bumpable after all these years.

6. Universal Heartthrob-- this track has a nice laid back beat with some synthesizers mixed in to go with the laid back of Playa Fly. Another solid effort on this track.

7. Here Fly Come-- this track has a darker piano laced beat over a bassline. Fly comes with some heated lyrics for those who are hatin on him. Very tight somg here.

8. Club Friendly-- this track was featured on the latest album by Fly's producer, Blackout. It's not quite a get buck up in the club type track as far as gettin you hype but that's mainly because of Fly's delivery. Personally, I'm not really a fan of the track but it's been a club favorite for a while now.

9. We Ain't Playin Witcha-- this was the lead single for the album....about a year ago. Apparently heavy radio rotation for the track didn't do much as far as rushing the release of the album because now the track just seems like an old track thrown on the album even though it's never officially been released on any other project. Nonetheless, it's still one of the better Fly tracks ever recorded.

10. M 2 Da 3rd-- another interlude over the phone

11. Flexin Skit (My Biggest Muscle)-- some freestylin over the phone by Fly

12. Life Goes On-- this track has a more uptempo feel to the beat than what Fly usually has on his albums. It's a bumpable track that Fly comes correct on, while others like D-A-V, Miami Maine, & Thaistik, who has been on previous Playa Fly albums, hold their own.

13. Nobody Needs Nobody-- this is another classic Playa Fly track from "Movin On". Both Fly and Gangsta Blac come tight on the mic on one of my all time favorite tracks.

14. Sap Sucka-- another interlude on the phone with Fly droppin a verse

15. Ghetto Eyes-- this track has a nice laid back beat with a mean bassline that you can just sit back and ride to. Playa Fly drops some nice verses over his patented delivery. Very tight track.

16. Few & Da Proud-- this track has some bass guitars in the beat to give it that funky style outta Funky Town. Thaistik drops a couple of verses to go with Fly. It's a bumpable track but not one of my favorites on the album.

17. Minnie Mae 4 Life-- this track has a mediocre beat with a sorry ass hook. Fly drops a sub-par performance on this one and probably won't be gettin much play from me.

18. Here Fly Come (instrumental)

Overall, I thought the album had too many interludes over the phone and too many old tracks even though the newer tracks are for the most part bumpin. Diehard Playa Fly fans will wanna check it out but if you've never heard Fly before or aren't a big fan, this isn't the album I'd recommend to get you to change your mind. You'd probably be better off with any of his first 3 albums instead.
