Lil Tec - Shut 'Em Down
Reviewed By: ULTIMATECDLINK
Album Rate: 4.75 out of 5 Stars

Lil Tec has appeared on album from Memphis's Gangsta Pat and Red Boss. Perhaps that's why this Augusta, GA rapper (who grew up in Kansas) has such Memphis sound in his album. Whatever the reason, this is one of the best Southern albums to drop in 2002.

1. Intro

2. Shut Em Down-- this track got a real dark, tight beat to it. Lil Tec comes off tight as fuck. This track gives me a real Memphis feel. The hook is just chanting "shut em down, shut em down". This track will just give you a taste of how tight this album is gonna be.

3. She Don't Understand (f/ Mr. LPD)-- this track features Mr. LPD outta Tupelo, Mississippi. This track is about how females don't understand how their men gotta pimp, hustle, and paper chase to make it. Mr. LPD drops a tight verse on here. Another great track here.

4. Ain't Shit Changed-- the beat to this track got a real dark underground feel to it. Lil Tec flows pretty good on here. Pretty nice track.

5. Where My Love At-- this track has an up tempo, get crunk-in-the-club beat to it. Lil Tec raps faster as the track moves through. Hook goes "where my love at nigga/from the east to the west/where my love at nigga/dirty south/midwest".

6. Anutha Day-- this is a nice laid back track about how life can be hard when you have to try to hustle. Lil Tec flows his ass off. A very tight track here.

7. Dirty Bizness (f/ Red Boss & Mr. LPD)-- this track got a weird Southern beat to it. Red Boss is outta Memphis, TN. All 3 rappers on here drop fire ass verses. Another tight track.

8. Eyezuvdadevil-- this track has a dark, evil beat to it. Lil Tec comes close to tongue twistin on parts of this track. Pretty tight track.

9. Sticky Situation (f/ Red Boss)-- this track got a Memphis type feel to it. This track is about tryin to get away from the police. This is another track worth checkin out.

10. Git Ya Smoke On-- right when the beat kicks in, you know this is track you can sit back and smoke to. It's got a nice slow beat to it. Lil Tec has a nice rhythm on his verses here keepin pace with the beats.

11. Interlude

12. You Done Fucked Wit Me-- another tight track (you starting to get deja-vu?). Lil Tec drops another solid song over some nice laid back beats.

13. I Know You Said It-- this track will get your speakers and your tweets workin overtime. Lil Tec raps pretty slow on this track. Nonetheless, a pretty good track anyways. I wish they could have done something more with the hook which is just "I know you said it" being repeated over and over.

14. Daddy's Lil Girl-- this is a slow track about his lil girl and how happy she makes him. It's a sappy song but a tight one nonetheless.

Overall, I got 3 words for ya: GET THIS ALBUM. This has to be one of the best Southern albums I've heard this year--independent or mainstream. This album just reinforces what I've felt for a while...that indy artists seem hungrier and it shows on their rhymes. If you're a fan of Southern music (from Memphis to Georgia to Texas) in general, you will not be sorry if you pick this one up. Gotta be one of the best of 2002.
