Jeezy Da Snowman from the rap group Boyz N Da Hood has got the streets of the South on lock. His highly anticipated solo debut album features Bun B, T.I, Lil Scrappy, Young Buck, Akon, Lloyd, Slick Pulla, Lil Will, & the single "And Then What" w/ Mannie Fresh.

The album starts off with the the title track "Thug Motivation" which features Young Jeezy's raspy flow over a beat of a money counter flippin those big bills while he proclaims to be "Donald Trump in a white tee".

On "Standing Ovation" is a beat that hints of Jay-Z's "Encore" in which a crowd gives their approval. Young Jeezy drops more than just a few memorable lines on the track such as "I've got a sixth sense/I stack dead people" and "calculate my every step, I'm a mathematician/make them pigoens disappear, I'm a damn magician". It's a laid back bumpin song that just makes you listen to every line and say "damn, did he just say that?".

"Gangsta Music" has a choppy, heavy bassline laden beat that paints the picture of hoodlife and flippin birds on the streets. Young Jeezy does for this track what Jim Jones attempted with his "Crunk Music" single, only this time it works.

"Let's Get It/Sky's The Limit" is a poor attempt at a club friendly track. Not feeling too much from it from the beat to the generic hook.

Meanwhile tracks like the Mannie Fresh produced lead single "And Then What" will no doubt have the clubs bangin and frats and sororities steppin to the hypnotic basslines.

There is not a hint of any of the other members of Boyz N Da Hood on the album but there are guest spots on the CD. In fact, some of the best songs on the project include the bangin track "Last Of A Dying Breed" featuring the severely underrated Young Buck from G-Unit and Trick Daddy, and the Jazze Pha produced cut "Bang" with fellow ATL heavyweights T.I. and Lil Scrappy.

One of the catchiest songs on the album is "Soul Survivor" featuring the future star Akon who has been on the underground scene in ATL for the last few years before landing a major label deal with SRC/Universal thanks to David Banner.

"My Hood" and "Air Forces" take the prize as our favorite cuts on the album thanks to their catchy hooks which will be stuck in your head for days and Jeezy's ability to ride the tight ass beats.

The album is full of fresh cuts such as "Trap Star" and "Go Crazy" (the remix features Jay-Z and Fat Joe) that would all do well on the national scene to further intensify the spotlight on ATL.

Overall, "Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101" is exactly the album Def Jam needed after the fiascos earlier this year known as Memphis Bleek and Young Gunz. Hate him or love him, Young Jeezy is the star of Boyz N Da Hood (sorry Jody Breeze fans) and P. Diddy is kicking himself right now that he didn't ink either to a solo deal. Jeezy's punchlines come off as more humorous than your average NY punchline rapper and the tight beats don't hurt either. Production from Mannie Fresh, Jazze Pha, Midnight Black, Cannon, Shawty Redd, Drummer Boy, Lil C, Akon, & DJ Smurf is on point and will have those loving the bass heavy Southern beats happy for over 70 minutes. For a relatively new artist, Young Jeezy has the charisma, confidence, swagger, and skills to be in the game for a while. Probably not the album for you if you're only into lyrical skills but definitely worth checkin out if you're looking for one of the hottest Southern bangers of the year.
