Arkansas Boyz - "Dommies, Spades, & Dice"

Album Rate: 4.25 out of 5 Stars

The duo Arkansas Boyz come to you straight outta Little Rock. Mi'Cool and Al-Dog also handle the production duties in addition to the rappin. They are joined on the album by Poize & EK-47.

1. Arkansaw Anthem (original)-- this first track got a dark, evil beat with heavy basstones. This track's got a Memphis sound to it but they reppin Arkansas to the fullest in their raps. Very tight track.

2. Southern Ride-- this track got a very nice beat to it with some nice basslines. The Arkansas Boyz bring it to the mic in this track about taking ride across the south from Texas to the Carolinas. Another very tight track.

3. Money-- this track got a nice mid tempo beat. The Arkansas Boyz rap in more of a laid back style on this one. There are points on the song that it seems like they will tongue twist but they never do. It's a bumpable track.

4. Kamaya Maya-- this is another track with a mid tempo beat and some nice basslines. They got some spaceship type sounds and that don't really fit well in the song. Starting with the second verse, you will think you are listening to a Memphis track and I finally get the tongue twistin I've been waiting on. This is one of the best tracks on the album.

5. How Deep (skit)-- just a dedication

6. How Deep My Mind-- the song starts off with some dark, evil Immortal Lowlife type beat. This is one of them deep tracks that make you wanna think. Very tight track.

7. Trick Cut Yo Head Off (f/ Poize)-- this track got a beat that seems like it's been overused in the rap game these days. The way they did the hook reminds me of UGK & Bo-Bo Luchiano's "Bitch Get Up Off Me" for some reason. Poize comes decent on the mic for a female rapper but this ain't one of favorite tracks on this album.

8. Butt Cheeks-- this is one of those get up in the club and shake ya ass tracks that you'd expect to see a video for on BET Uncut. The beats on this one are kinda weak. I'mma hit skip on my CD player....

9. Ball Park (skit)-- this track is them tryin to sell their CD at the ball park...funny shit

10. Hatas (f/ EK-47)-- this track got a nice mid tempo beat with some chimes and shit going on. Nice flows all the way around on this one. They rappin about all the hatin going on once they reach the top. Pretty good track.

11. Dommies, Spades, & Dice-- this track has a slower tempo beat. The hook goes "I live on dommies, spades, and dice/you wanna fuck wit me, you better think twice". This is a bumpable track cause the Arkansas Boyz got some nice flows on this one.

12. Get Yo Ass On Da Floor-- this track has a pretty nice bassline beat. It's another get crunk up in the club track although it's slower than a lot of get buck type songs. It's not that bad of a track but it almost seems like they sampled the entire "Back Dat Azz Up" sound on this one.

13. Toot It Up-- this track starts off with some xylophones and marching band drum beats. The production kinda falls off on this track. It's hard to hear what they are rapping about. Not really feelin this one.

14. Makin Moves-- this track got a nice laid back beat that'll get ya head noddin. The Arkansas Boyz come with some decent flows on here. Mi'Cool comes pretty tight on his verse. Nice track.

15. Arkansas Anthem (remix)-- I kinda like this version better than the original. This one's got a dark Lil Jon/ATL feel to it if that makes any sense. Pretty tight track.

16. Kamaya Maya (radio version)

17. And We Out-- this track is basically an outro with some shoutouts

Overall, this is a pretty solid album. The production and the rappin are both tight. There is a definite Memphis influence without losing that Arkansas sound either. I like they keep reppin Arkansas all the way through the album. If there is any group that could break through nationwide and put Arkansas on the map, the Arkansas Boyz could do it cause this was a very nice album. You definitely need to check it out if you wanna hear some tight shit outta Arkansas.
