When you are often recognized as the "greatest rap artist ever", it's not because you are a one hit wonder. A rap catalog the size of Tupac Shakur's surely contains more songs (than would fit on one CD) that belongs on a "greatest hits" collection, so a double disc greatest hits album is just what the doctor ordered.

The album contains many tracks that even the casual listener not even fans of 2Pac would recognize as some of his signature tracks including "Brenda's Got A Baby", "California Love", "2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted" w/ Snoop Dogg, "I Ain't Mad At Ya", and "Hail Mary".

Having these songs together on a double disc set appropriately labeled "Thug" and "Life" since disc 1 contains the harder tracks laid down by Pac glorifying the West Coast gsngsta lifestyle, while disc 2 brings us more spiritual, uplifting, and sometimes political messages behind the songs.

The album contains 2 new tracks, "Resist The Temptation" and "Dopefiend's Diner", along with a new remix of "Dear Mama" featuring Anthony Hamilton. So for the Pac fans who already have all of his albums and numerous other greatest hits packages put out over the years from Death Row Records, Interscope, and Amaru Records, there is still a reason to go cop this album.

2Pac's mother Afeni Shakur served as the executive producer for the albums, and in the booklet liner, she said it best...."It was impossible to fit 2Pacs best work into a collection of 18 songs. I believe this collection of songs represents the many sides to my son as an artist and human being. It captures his ability to reach different emotions in each of our souls." I couldn't have said it better myself. There's a reason 2Pac is arguably the "greatest rapper EVER."
