Ulrich Kaiser
I am an associate professor of economics at the University of Southern Denmark at Odense, a research affiliate with the Centre for Economics and Business Research, Copenhagen, and a research professor with the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), Mannheim.

Before I came to Denmark I was a  senior researcher with the ZEW in the Research Group Information and Communication Technologies. In the academic year 2001/2002, I was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University, Dept. of Economics, and a research affiliate with the National Bureau of Economic Research, both in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

I studied economics at the University of Konstanz and at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, USA, between fall 1991 and spring 1997. After graduating from the University of Konstanz, I joined the ZEW's Department of Industrial Economics and International Management as a research fellow.
In May 2001, I transferred myself to the newly created Research Group Economics of Information and Communication Technologies as a senior researcher. Most of my past research received sponsorship by the German Science Foundation through the research project "Technical progress, qualification and labor demand". My research stay at Harvard and the NBER was sponsored by the Volkswagen-Stiftung.

In July 2001, I completed my doctoral dissertation at the University of Konstanz.

My research interests are the analysis of differentiated product demands and the impacts of information and communication technologies on workplace organization, market structure and product pricing.

My papers have appeared in Allgemeines Statistisches Archiv, Economics of Innovation and New Technology, Ifo-Studies, intereconomics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Applied Social Science Studies, Journal of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, Labour, Research Policy and Review of Industrial Organization.
