Breeding
This is not difficult as it comes very naturally to Quail. The chances are that if you have a pair living in the same enclosure any eggs layed will be fertile. It is recommended that you keep Quail in trio's two female - one male. This is because the males constant attention can be a bit wearing on the female so by dividing his time between two females they will be less stressed. If you are breeding your Quail then you will want the female to sit on her egg. The best way to do this is to provide her with plenty of cover in order for her to get a little privacy. I pile some loose hay in a corner of their aviary... Quail love to play in this and it make an ideal nest site.

Please note that a female Quail will not sit until she has laid a clutch 'which is 8 - 12 eggs'. This insures that all the eggs hatch at once. She may even lay them in differnt places, but when she makes a nest she will roll them together.

Keep them well fed and they will do the rest.
