Dead Baits

Pike Fishing With Dead Baits Is Probably The Most Widespread Methods Used To Catch All Sizes Of Pike In This Country, But In Other European Countries Lures Seem To Be Preferred, Probably Due To The Fact That Us British Prefer A Less Energetic Approach!

Using The Baits Below With A Combination Of Presentation Rigs Can Soon Have You Landing This Fish.  The Baits Below Are Not In Any Particular Order Or Preference, Although I Have Split Them Into Sea Fish & Fresh Water Fish Categories.  All The Baits Below Can Be Bought From Your Local Fishmonger Or In Specially Frozen Pike Packs From Your Freindly Fishing Tackle Shop.  Herrings, Sprats And Mackerel Are Just About Available All The Year Round, But The Rest You'll Just Have To Get Where You Can.  When You Freeze Them Make Sure You Separate Them Or You'll Have A Hell Of A Job On Your Hands Splitting Them.

Nine Times Out OF Ten, The Fresher Your Bait The More Chance You'll Have Of Catching, But There Is Always The Exception!  Frozen Fish Can Last Up To About A Year In The Freezer Without Being Ruined.  They Do Begin To Break Down Which Does Enable The Oils To Leak Out Easily And Could Well Attract That Monster You Have Been Waiting For.  Just A Word Of Warning: Label All Baits Well Unless You Want Them On Your Plate For Supper Or Arrive At The Water With Fish Fingers!
