The Library is currently constructing an audio visual center to assist Acadamic staffs and students in their teaching and learning careers.

 

 

MEMBERSHIP OF THE LIBRARY

We are pleased to announce that the plans for the Library Club have been completed. There are 50 members who are being given basic training in Library use. The library staff will be greatly helped by these students so please welcome them and assist them as they assist us.
Each library club member has a membership card.
There is a bulletin board for Library Club news, which is located, halfway down the stairs to the lower level.
The Library Club has a 5-member executive:
  • Habtamu Mekonnen
  • Elias Tirago
  • Tizita Abraham
  • Tigist Fissema
  • Hailu Seifu
Each club member has been assigned shelves, which they will be responsible for keeping tidy. The Library staff will supervise the shelves. Please assist the Library club members when they ask for help or advice. This is a new idea at the University and the guidelines for the Library Club are being formed as we" go along" please give your ideas about the Library Club to Ato Berhanu and his collegues.
The Gondar University Library Club has been formed to support the work of the Library.
It is a volunteer club composed of students on the G.C.M.S. campus. Another Library Club will be started at the Maraki Campus.
Library Club members assist the library staff by:
  • Teaching staff and students how to use the New elm catalogue
  • Shelving books
  • " Reading" assigned shelves to keep books in order.
  • Assisting with reserved " high demand" books at busy times.
  • Assisting with line-ups outside the library for high demand books.
  • Monitoring student behaviors in the library.
Training
Library Club members require training in 4 areas:
  • LC Classification.
  • Computer basics: elm OPAC program.
  • Computer basics: Typing Tutor.
  • Library Rules and Regulations.
The Library Staff provides training in these areas.
Membership in Library Club The Library Club has 50 members. Registration is currently full, but if you would like to apply to be a member, sign The sheet on the bulletin board. The Executive will select new members as needed.

The GCMS Library maintains an online catalogue which will become available in all of the University of Gondar library branches as soon as the internet connection to each branch is completed.

Along with that a catalogue print out is under construction and will be distributed to the Maraki and Lideta Campus Libraries whenever the computer networks are all available.
INTERNET RESEARCH AND JOURNAL SERVICE.
Online Journals and research is currently being institiated by the library staff. Please speak to the professional staff to make arrangements for in-depth research.
Use of Internet for E-mail purpose is not permitted on the library internet.
