Excerpts

Crossroads

(Part I "The Creation", Outback Australia)

'I am struggling to understand,
the wounded mind’s not clever.
You’re drifting away from me
though you said you’d love me forever.'

'I am leaving you now,
but I promise you again,
I did love you forever,
then.'

Still Life

(Part II "The Evolution", The plains of Africa)

It all started here,
on these grassy plains,
the rhythm of the drums
and dancing for the rains.

When they didn’t come,
we spread in search of them.
We adapted to new worlds,
turned yellow, white and red.

Some are still leaving,
but some will remain,
will always be black,
and be dancing for the rain.
