Welcome to Sun Lotus Website! Our mission statement is to expose people to the philosophies of Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism, for the purpose of promoting peace, culture, and education across all boundries. Sun lotus is a student organization at UCSB founded by students about five years ago and growing stronger with support of our Soka Gokkai Family. Their encouragement and support gives us young minds a chance to challenge ourselves and achieve our goals. In Sun Lotus, the students speak their minds freely on life issues and explore the multi-faceted studies of Buddism, and how the teachings of Buddhism can affect their daily lives. Together we learn from each other's ability to overcome the obstacles in life. To come and learn how you can achieve success with every challenge that you are faced with. To strengthen our mind, body and soul through faith, practice, and study. The best part in Sun Lotus is being able to hang out with your own peers and community leaders. Members have the opportunity to be involved in community activities dealing with buddhist teachings, youth awareness, international opportunities, and more... We welcome everyone of every race, age, religious background, and sexual orientation. This is not a club to convert you, it is an opportunity to learn another religion in hopes to maintain mutual understanding between other religions. Whatever you believe in, it is you who make it great. Don't fall into quick judgements about any practice based on its' people examples alone. If you are interested, please feel free to browse through the website links (left side) or contact us if you have any questions.
